Rosalie Strider Obituary
SMITHFIELD, N.C. — Rosalie Gunter Strider, 87, daughter of the late Otis and Ida Mae Gunter passed away Tuesday, April 4, 2017. Born in Asheboro, she lived most of her adult life in Rockingham where she worked for more than 40 years at Thrift Loan & Finance. She lived her later years in the Clayton area to be with her daughter and family.
Rosie, as many loved to call her, is survived by her devoted daughter and son-in-law Suzanne Strider Benoy and husband David of Clayton/Smithfield area; her great joy in life, her only grandson Chance Strider Benoy of Raleigh; loving nephew John Gunter and son Evan; sweet sister-in-law Ibby Strider (Colon) of Rockingham; special nieces and nephews from the Strider and Benoy families; friends from her home church at East Rockingham United Methodist, along with many friends that have loved and supported her over the years! In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband; Charles Edward (Dick) Strider, her loyal brother; Leonard Maurice Gunter.
Per Rosalie's request, she will be cremated and her ashes are to be buried next to the love of her life, Dickie! A simple but loving graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 8, 2017 at Cedar Falls United Methodist Church Cemetery in Cedar Falls with her nephew John Gunter officiating.
While flowers are accepted, Rosalie asks that any memorial donations please be made in her memory to: East Rockingham United Methodist Church, 490 Mill Rd., Rockingham, NC 28379 where she had been a member for over 60 years. Online condolences may be made to the Strider family at www.mclaurinatpinecrest.com. Arrangements are with McLaurin Funeral Home, Clayton.
