Gaffney Parsons Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc. Obituary

Rosalinda J." Linda" Demansky, 87, of Bangor, PA passed away Saturday, July 23, 2022, at Slate Belt Health and Rehab. Center, Bangor, PA.

Linda was born in Easton, PA on February 26, 1935, a daughter of the late Henry A. and Lucille (DeRenzis) Fremount. She was the wife of the late Edward P. Demansky who passed in 2014. They were married for 56 years. Linda was a 1953 graduate of Bangor High School, and a 1957 graduate of Kutztown University, where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Art Education. She taught elementary school and 7th grade art in Jefferson Township, Bangor, and Pen Argyl in the late 1950’s and early 1960’s and was an Adjunct Professor of children’s art at Northampton County Area Community College.

Following her enduring passion for the education of young children, she was the 1969 founder, director, and owner of Bangor Nursery and Day Care Center, the first licensed day care center in Bangor, PA. She was instrumental in obtaining Federal and State funds for children of low-income families in the Slate Belt and retired from the center in 1993. She was a former Board President of Childcare Information Services, Inc. in Bethlehem and continued to serve on the Board until 2001.

A champion for the humane treatment of animals, she served on the Humane Services Task Force of the Slate Belt. With continued love, loyalty, and commitment to the local community, Linda served on the Executive Board of the Slate Belt Heritage Center and initiated the St. John’s Cemetery Appeal and Restoration Drive, during which time the historic mausoleum’s stained-glass windows were restored, repair work began on the stone and roof, and the St. John’s Cemetery slate signs were installed. She was also a member of the Bangor Bee Hive Adult Council, the Bangor Borough Zoning Board, and a former judge for Bangor parades and the Farm Show. Linda was an avid reader, and enjoyed painting, nature, gardening in her beautiful back yard, sewing handmade dolls, playing the piano, and tennis in days gone by. Her greatest enjoyment was time spent with family and close friends.

Rosalinda is survived by two daughters, Deanna Hart Rodman, and husband Matt of CT, and Christy Demansky Talese of Columbus, OH, as well as Carol and Thomas Guertin of Delaware, grandchildren Matthew Talese and girlfriend Jessica, Michael Talese and fiancée Nina, Brielle Grassey and husband John, Hollie Hart, Jeffrey Guertin, Emily Guertin, and husband Michael, and great-grandchildren Ben and Emily Grassey, Fiona Rodman, plus many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother Henry N. Fremount.

Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Gaffney Parsons Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., Bangor, PA. Online condolences may be offered at gaffneyparsons.com.
