Locally he served as chairman of cancer drives, on the Waynesboro Board of Assessors, and the boards of the Retail Merchants Association and Waynesboro Country Club. His real love was baseball, working with Babe Ruth, American Legion, and Valley League. But his favorite was Little League, coaching and helping build the fields. He headed a group which raised the funds to build the field at Kate Collins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Carl and Charles Poole. Surviving are his wife, Mary W. Poole; daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Jim Meador; sisters, Bonnie Meredith and Lucy Sensabaugh and husband, Gene; brother, William Poole and wife, Joan; grandchildren, Tonna Lotts and M. Trevor Parmer; and great-grandchildren, Courtney and Caleb Lotts and Max and Simon Parmer. A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at Westminster Presbyterian Church by the Reverend James Young and Pastor Jim Meador. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Monday, March 4, 2013, at McDow Funeral Home. Not sure what to say?

Mary,Judy:

My heart is broken. I didn't know until a week ago (I travel because of work) and was
shocked to hear the news ! As I told him a few years ago,"you are Mr. Baseball to me and you are the reason that I've coached for 20+ years."
RIP, coach...I just know you are on God's championship team!

I just heard the bad news and I am so sorry. Judy you know how much I thought of Roscoe.... He will be remembered.

I remember Roscoe well and the fun times we had when I played American Legion baseball. Judy, sorry for your loss.

I, too, remember Mr Poole on the baseball field some 45-50 years ago, and I'm sure my father and mother knew him well during their times in Waynesboro. I'm very sorry for the family's loss.

Mary and family sorry for your loss. I enjoyed working for Roscoe at Virginia National Bank.

Judy and family

I was sorry to learn of the lost of your father.

Ann Zeh

Judy, I am certainly sorry to hear about the passing of your father, my thought and prayers are with you, your mother and your children.

Judy and Jim I was sorry to read about Roscoe's death. He helped me so much with my banking needs when I moved to Waynesboro 30+ years ago. My fondness memories with Roscoe was when he coached me in American Legion baseball. Roscoe may you R.I.P.

A real people person who had a great sense of humor who was always willing to help others. Rest in Peace.
