ALLEN, Rose Person, of Emporia, recently residing in Richmond, transitioned from labor to reward on Saturday, October 9, 2010 at Chippenham Medical Center. Born to Romnie and Ida Person on March 19, 1927, she grew to become a faithful servant of the Lord, a beloved educator, and committed civic leader. Rose P. lived by these words found in St. Luke 12:48, "to whom much is given, much is required." Left to cherish and perpetuate her rich legacy are her daughters, Dianora A. Hicks (William) and Valerie M. Allen; one grandson, Brandon C. Allen; three sisters, Emma P. Harrison, Audrey L. Person, and Ida P. Edwards; one brother, Alvin B. Person; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. A memorial service is scheduled for Friday, October 15, 6:30 p.m. at St. Paul Church of God in Christ, 294 Lowground Road, Emporia, where the Homegoing Celebration will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St. Paul Education and Scholarship Committee, Attn: Carolyn Spearman, 294 Lowground Road, Emporia, Va. 23847. Arrangements entrusted to Knox-High Mortuary Inc.
