Rose Hofschild UPPER NAZARETH TWP. Rose Caesar Hofschild, 90, originally of Upper Nazareth Township, PA, departed from this life on Sept. 26, 2017. She was the wife of the late George B. Hofschild. They celebrated their 40th anniversary in August 2015. Born in the village of West Bangor on March 23, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Bettina Squillaro Caesar and Nicholas Caesar. Rose was the youngest of 14 children. During World War II, the Slate Belt produced a series of magazines called the "Homefront" from 1942-1946. These magazines were distributed to troops who were fighting in Europe and Japan. In the February 1946 edition, Rose was featured as the "Fairest of the Month." In 1995, a celebration was held to honor Rose and all "Homefront" participants. Rose was a graduate of Bangor High School and Empire Beauty and Cosmetology School. She also attended Churchman's Business College. Rose was a licensed hairdresser and often volunteered her time providing beauty care services to friends and relatives. She was employed by Caesar's Diner as a waitress and was also employed by Orr's of Easton in the jewelry department. It was there that Rose developed a passion for fashion and accessories. In addition, she was employed by the PA Department of Transportation as a clerk typist II for 14 years. Rose was also a member of St. Brigid's Episcopal Church. Surviving Rose are two daughters, Dr. Janice E. Florey of Minden, NV, and Michele Eva Florey, wife of Dr. Kelly J. Allen of Beaver, PA, and three grandchildren, John Allen, Beaver Falls, Sabrina Allen, London, Ohio, and Stephen Allen, Jacksonville, Florida. Rose also had five stepdaughters, Robin Burgos, Florida; Sharon Wenrich, Lebanon; Brenda Schwartz, Easton; Maureen Hofschild, Easton, and Tina Hofschild of Northampton, PA. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Lena Ward, Celia Squillaro and Mae Pugh, as well as her brothers, J.N. Caesar, Steven Caesar, Floyd Caesar, Julius Caesar and Valentino Caesar. We thank all of you for your final blessings for our beloved wife, mother, step-mother, sister, aunt, and grandmother. May she forever rest in peace. In honor of her dear friends, George and Ernie, and her love for fashion, St. Peter and all those awaiting her arrival, Rose will be wearing a George Simonton suit. The family will receive family and friends, Friday, Oct. 6, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Ruggiero Funeral Home, LLC, 126 E. Pennsylvania Ave, Pen Argyl, PA, ruggierofuneralhome.com, Funeral services will be held Saturday, Oct. 7, at 11 a.m. at St. Brigid's Episcopal Church, 310 Madison Ave., Nazareth, PA. Father Bill Martin will be officiating. Interment will follow at Queen of Heaven Mausoleum in Roseto, PA.
