Rose Elizabeth Hutchinson

Rose was one of those delights, unexpected, that entered our lives through Hilary. She remains in our memories as so sharp and funny and fun -- we could tell where Hilary got her own sense of how to live. Our condolences to her family, and Hilary, we are thinking of you and hoping that these difficult times will pass. Rose will be with you forever.

While I did not know Mrs. Hutchinson, I grew up in Goshen in the 1950s and 1960s and attended church with her father and her sister Pauline. A neighbor here in Portland chanced to read her obituary and, knowing where I am from, called my attention to it. While I offer my condolences on her passing, what a pleasure it was to read about a life so obviously well lived! May she rest in peace.

Rose was one of a kind. I will never forget her. I met her while she lived with Hilary in Beaverton. I was so impressed with her sharp brain and quick wit. She makes living advanced years look like a piece of cake.

I have fond memories of Rose and her family from Bend as she was a good friend of my mother, Eleanor McMenamin Deeks. They liked to play bridge together and talk about their families. Rose was always cheerful and happy to help with any church or school event. Rose - Rest In Peace
