DOHERTY FUNERAL SERVICE Obituary


      Rose (Bortone) LaPierre, 95, a long-time Somerville resident passed away on September 2, 2017. She was lovingly known to all as “Auntie Rose”. The beloved wife of the late Joseph LaPierre and daughter of the late Lucido and Maria (Musto) Bortone, she is survived by her brothers, Julius Bortone of Somerville, Gerry Bortone of Springfield, Ralph Bortone of Lady- Lake, Florida and her sole surviving sister and best friend, Grace Tuminelli of Arlington. She is also survived by her many nieces and nephews and their children who cherished her in her role as a second mother to them.


    


       Especially dear to her were her nieces Marie and Keyona Bell. They cared for her in their Arlington home for the last four years along with the support of nieces Kathy Kilroy, Judy Shannon, and nephew Michael Tuminelli.


  


       A tribute to her generous nature were the copious hours volunteered to various charitable organizations including Children’s Hospital, Little Sisters of the Poor and Boys’ Town. She also made generous financial donations to these organizations over the years.


 


       A devout Catholic, she was a member of St. Clement’s Parish in Somerville where she attended daily Mass.


 


      Funeral Procession from the George L. Doherty Funeral Home, 855 Broadway (Powder House Sq.) Somerville on Wednesday morning at 11:30AM followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Clement Church at 12:00PM. Relatives and friends invited to attend.

     Calling Hours prior to the Funeral Mass from 10:00AM to 11:30AM.

     Interment Cambridge Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in Rose’s memory can be made to a charity of your choice.
