Corridan Funeral Home - Chicopee Obituary

Palmer- It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of a beautiful heart.  Rosemary Demers-Hurst, 59, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, died on December 13, 2025, at Baystate Medical Center, with her family by her side.  Rose was born on February 27, 1966, daughter to the late Edward D. and Margaret “Terry” (Johnson) Demers.  Rose was a longtime resident of Palmer, where she attended local schools and worked for more than 20 years as a receptionist at Wing Memorial Hospital, where she greeted everyone with kindness and empathy.  Rose loved to garden and had a yard full of beautiful flowers.  She also loved feeding the birds and was always finding them a new home among the many birdhouses she had in her yard.  Rose also enjoyed football and would cheer on the Patriots every week with her sister.  What Rose enjoyed most of all was hosting every holiday gathering and summer picnics.  She always made sure that everyone had a place to go for each special occasion and no one ever left hungry, but left with a goodie bag.  In addition to her parents, Rose was predeceased by her brothers, Kenneth (2006) and Mark Demers (2021).  She will be deeply missed by her husband and her one true love, Jefferson B. Hurst, her beloved son Steven Demers (Sarah), her most cherished granddaughter, Brea Rose, her sisters Elizabeth Girouard, Margaret Garman, and Jennifer Trant, “Dad” Keith Unwin, her special in-laws, and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.  The family would like to extend their most sincere thanks to the most amazing and caring nurses at Baystate Medical Center.  Funeral services for Rose will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2025 at Corridan Funeral Home, 333 Springfield St., Chicopee, MA.  Visiting hours will take place from 10:00am to 12:00pm, with a funeral home service at noon.  Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Chicopee.

Rosemary was nice person I always say hi to her working at baystate palmer prayers to her family friends

Rosemary was a fellow Class of 1984 graduate, Palmer High School. She was always very nice to chat with. After school, I did not see her a lot. Later in life, I would see her at the PHS football games, as her son was on the team. It was nice to reconnect and share the directions our lives had gone in since our days at PHS. My condolences go out to her entire family and friends. May you rest in peace, Rosemary.
