CNN is reporting Emmy Award-winning actress Rosemary Murphy has died at 89.

She portrayed Miss Maudie Atkinson in "To Kill a Mockingbird" and won an Emmy for her work in the television movie "Eleanor and Franklin." She earned three Tony nominations for "Period of Adjustment," "Any Wednesday" and "A Delicate Balance."

I was so sorry to hear of the Rosemary's passing. You are in my thoughts and prayers as you mourn her loss. We shared as members of the Class of 1943 at Holy Names Academy.I will be waiting to hear of her remembrance gathering at a later date. Many have found the promise of endless life free of pain and sorry to be something worth looking forward to. What a grand reunion that is going to be!

Ms. Murphy was an excellent actress. She entertained us through her myriad of roles in the movies, tv, and the stage. She will be truly missed by her many fans. JM
