Heritage Funeral Home and Cremation Services - Sioux Falls Obituary

Rosemary R. Struben, age 92, passed away peacefully on April 8, 2023, at the Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls, SD.  She was born November 19, 1930, in East Peoria, IL to Albert and Margaret Mitzelfelt. She grew up in Peoria, IL, and attended Manual High School.  She married the love of her life Richard Struben in 1950.  Rosemary converted to Catholicism after she was married and, her faith and love for God has been an inspiration to her family.

Rosemary was a very loving and dedicated wife and mother first and foremost.  She treasured her children and embraced every moment with family.  She especially loved her role as grandma and great grandma.  Rosemary would rock her babies for hours while singing her many lullabies.  Feeding her family was another love, and boy could she cook!  She very seldom used a recipe. Her pies were amazing, but her cinnamon rolls were renoun. Rosemary was always busy with her hands especially crocheting, sewing and crafting.

After Rosemary and Dick retired they moved from Peoria to a beautiful home on Table Rock Lake near Branson, MO.   Mom made sure she had plenty of chocolate chip cookies, snacks of all kinds and always plenty of her wonderful potato salad when we all arrived..  This was her special time spent with her entire family.  Rosemary will be remembered by many for her kindness and her beautiful smile

Rosemary is survived by her husband Richard, son Richard (Mary), daughter Pam(Denny), grandchildren David, Jason(Carrie), Matthew(Julia) and Amy (John), great grandchildren Marley, Grayson and Myles.

She is preceded in death by her mother and father and 8 siblings: Caroline, Paul, Edna, Doris, Don, Eddie, Albert and Imogene.

Rosemary funeral will take place at Heritage Funeral Home on Thursday, April 13, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. Interment will take place at Resurrection Mausoleum and Cemetery in Peoria, IL on April 21, 2023 at 10:00 a.m.

Not sure what to say?

Thank you for being my Aunt Rosie. I have very fond memories of going swimming in the pool in Creve Coeur and the countless instructions from y'all on how to dive. Every summer down in Missouri on the lake. I always enjoyed seeing you and Uncle Dick and of course the chocolate chip cookies were amazing. You definitely deserve your new life up above. Tell my Grandpa I love him and miss him..
With Love, Luke

Dick and Family...I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Rosemary. I truly enjoyed getting to know her. She had such a great personality and was so easy going. Even in the midst of the pandemic she found a way to be positive and always had a smile on her face. I pray that you all will find comfort and peace in the memories that you have made. She was a terrific lady.

Pam and family, please accept our sincere condolences for the passing of your mom. It doesn't matter how long you have a parent in your life, it is hard to say good bye. We pray God will comfort all of you during this difficult time.

She was such a wonderful lady! She and Uncle Dick stood up with my parents Georgia and Paul Fisher when they where married in 1950. As a kid we grew up with Rick and Pam as children.
