Rosie Lee Seals was born May 19, 1924, in Chappel Hill, Texas (Washington County) to Joe and Emma Harris. Rosie Lee was one of twelve children born to this union; eleven of whom preceded her in death. At the age of 8, the family moved to Houston, Texas. Rosie Lee attened Harper Elementary School and Booker T. Washington High School. On May 5, 1942 she married Freddie Lee Gibbs. To that union, a daughter was born, Rosie Ann Gibbs.
Rosie Lee finished Walls Beauty College in 1959. She worked in various hospitals as a cook and manager. In later years, she retired from Diagnostic Center Hospital.
Growing up in a Christian home, she joined East Macedonia Baptist Church and was baptized by Reverend Farris at an early. She later joined Windsor Village United Methodist Church under the leadership of Reverend Kirby John Caldwell. She attended regularly until health no longer permitted. Her faith in God never wavered.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother; six brothers: Van, James, Anthony, L. B., John and Theodore and five sisters: Geneva, Opal V, Ira Emma, Erma and Irelia.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her daughters, Rosie Ann and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.
