Ross Kramer King was welcomed into Christs’ loving care and the joyous reunion with his heavenly family at Ava’s House, Sioux Falls SD on Friday October 17, 2025. Born in Chatfield, Minnesota to Marion and Harland King, he was raised on the family farm with four loving sisters and one brother in Stewartville, Minnesota. where he attended school, participating in football and band, and attended Sumner Methodist Church and Stewartville Methodist Church.  


Ross attended Winona State Teachers College, graduating Summa Com Laude with a BA degree in English and Math Education. He met his wife Carol while attending a World History Class and became interested when she sold him decorated Band-Aids for a shaving cut while working at the Dairy Bar in Winona.  He married Carol Christine Jacobsen at Hanley Falls, MN; Officiated by her father Rev. G.N. Jacobsen in 1965. They welcomed two sons to their union.  He adored Daniel and Timothy and enthusiastically participated in sports, camping, and fishing with his family. He especially loved golfing, traveling, and gardening.


Ross taught English in Boyceville, WI.  And Viroqua, WI.  He became a broadcaster with KUSD Radio in Vermillion, SD and became News and Public Affairs Director during his 30 years there. He was active in Trinity Lutheran Church in Vermillion and was a member of the Lions Club, serving in philanthropic activities and The Lions Eye project. Ross is survived by his wife, Carol King, Sioux Falls SD, Son Tim King and wife Laurie (Satler) King. Pittsburgh, Pa.  Son Dan King and significant friend Lisa (Duekes) Tea, SD. Grand Daughter Amanda King, Lennox SD, Great Granddaughters Karma Gamrak and Everly Nelson, Lennox SD.   Sisters Rose King Taliaferro, St. Petersburg, Fla. And Mary King Engel, North Carolina and many cousins, nephews and nieces.  His love and humor will be greatly missed.


 In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Trinity Lutheran Church in Vermillion, SD, the American Cancer Society, the Alzheimer's Association or South Dakota Public Radio.  Services pending at Trinity Lutheran Church in Vermillion, SD.
