Read MoreIt was my very special pleasure to know Chappy. This was during the days he worked at the Franklin County Coroner's Office and he made "pay ins" daily at the Franklin County Treasurer's Office. I worked there January 1984 until Dec.1992. I would see him most days. Everybody loved him. He was just the nicest person you could imagine.

All of our sympathy goes out to Chappy's family. He was our dad's best friend and we all loved him a lot. We will truly miss him and his stories. He was always a joy to have at our get togethers. He loved teasing the younger children and they expected it from him too!

I'm very sad to learn yesterday of Chappy's passing. A truly good man, good friend and mentor. Many great memories of serving with Chappy in Ohio Army National Guard. My condolences to the family.

My family and I offer our deepest sympathy to John's family. I will always remember the times he visited my mother (Maxine - his sister)in Florida and how he entertained all of us. He was quite the character.
