Not sure what to say?

Roy was my art teacher at Tech Memorial from 1973-1977 and he was a talented, funny and at the same time very serious about art as a way earning a living. I will forever cherish his mentorship and his friendship.

Hard to believe he passed in 2011! Time has moved on, and we miss him still.

Still miss you and love you.

I just learned of your passing. It's January 18, 2015. I was proud to know you. Thanks for taking me to the Buffalo museum.

Though this is a bit late, I just wanted to extend my sympathy to Roy's wife Martha and family.
Along with Ronnie Walter and Claire Marschack, I was a student of his at Tech, graduating in 1974. As they mentioned previously we all went out to visit him while in Erie for our 25th re-union. It was wonderful to see him and he beamed as we told him of our careers in art.

Happy Birthday Uncle Roy
You were and still are a great influence on so many lives.

I just learned about Roy's passing this morning and wanted to send my condolences to the family. He was my art teacher for three years at Tech and was my favorite. I had the honor of seeing him on my last day living in Erie and was thankful that I did. Goodbye Mr. Ahlgren, you are truly misssed.

I just learned of Roy's passing and am so sad. He was a lovely man and a great artist. Sandra Berarducci

Condolences. As one of Roy's most erratic anti-establishment students, who went so far as to parody him in a little comic book, I want to say it took a long time to recognize what an oasis of encouragement and wisdom he provided in a town geared mostly towards factory workers. Erie has produced many creative people and more than a few got a push from the much-missed Roy Ahlgren..
I will come back and post a picture of our art class later this week,
