Saugus-Mr. Roy Sawtelle Bacon, age 90 years, died on Sunday evening at his home. He was the husband of 68 years to Norma D. (Kimball) Bacon. Born and raised in Sidney, Maine, he was the son of the late Roy S. and Agnes E. (Evans) Bacon. An attendee of the General Electric Apprentice Program, he worked for a few years as a machinist. In 1945, he opened Roy S. Bacon Construction. He and his company were instrumental in building the infrastructure of Saugus and constructed many homes in Saugus as well. What he was most proud of was his mentoring of many people who continued on as successful businessmen. He was an avid yachtsman and Past Commodore of the Volunteer Yacht Club. Besides wife he is survived by his daughter Constance Rockwood of Groveland, and two grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by 2 brothers, 1 sister and his son Roy S. Bacon III. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to Sawtelle Family Hospice House, 607 North Ave., Suite 17, Wakefield, MA 01880. SERVICE INFORMATION A funeral service will be held in the Bisbee-Porcella Funeral Home, 549 Lincoln Ave., SAUGUS on Thursday at 11 a.m. Relatives & friends invited. Visiting hours Wednesday 4-8 p.m. Interment Puritan Lawn Memorial Park.
