Roy D. Coghill, 76, of Henderson, Kentucky, passed away peacefully Monday, February 9, 2026, at St. Anthony’s Hospice Lucy Smith King Care Center.
Roy was born in Henderson, Kentucky, on November 22, 1949, to the late Gene and Virgie Coghill. In his youth, he would everyday go to Park Field to play softball, and he was proud to have played on Finley Baptist Church’s softball team. Roy was a 1967 graduate of Henderson County High School and was a U.S. Army Vietnam War veteran. He retired from HMP & L. When he retired, Roy enjoyed working in the yard and “picking up sticks.”
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Shirley Duncan and Bethel Belcher.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Bonita; two children, Stacy Book and her husband, Jeremy, of Robards, Kentucky, and Timmy Coghill and his wife, Jessica, of Campbellsville, Kentucky; one brother, Larry Coghill of Little Dixie, Kentucky; four grandchildren, Joey Book and his wife, Cecilee, Cody Book and his wife, Shawnee, Ethan Coghill, and Allee Coghill; four great-grandchildren, Oliver Book, Finnley Book, Dawson Book, and Sutton Book; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, February 16, 2026, at Rudy-Rowland Funeral Home. Roy’s son, Timmy Coghill, the Reverend Alan Ramsey, and Brother Ken Lupton will officiate. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens with full military rites performed by the American Legion Worsham Post No. 40.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time Monday at the funeral home.
Contributions may be made to St. Anthony’s Hospice.
Roy’s family wishes to thank Dr. Scott Watkins and the entire staff of St. Anthony’s Hospice for the care and guidance given to Roy and his family.
Pallbearers will be Joey Book, Cody Book, Ethan Coghill, Allee Coghill, Jeremy Book, and Chris Coghill.

Bonita and family, so sorry to hear about the loss of Roy. I will always cherish the visit we had together when Daddy Joe and Heno would bring me along for visits with our cousins. I always enjoyed hanging out with Stacy and time spent with you and Roy. Love and prayers for you all.
