Roy Mitchell Davis

Waynesville, Roy M. Davis, 95, died peacefully on Friday, February 24, 2017 at Maggie Valley Nursing Home & Rehabilitation. Roy was the oldest son of Vinson and Ella Davis. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Sarah Stone Davis, who died in 2002; brother, Ernest, who died in 1979. Roy retired from General Tire Company in Winston Salem, North Carolina in 1987. The same year, moved to Dacusville, South Carolina, where he worked for McConnell Grading & Utilities Company. In 2002, Roy and Sarah moved back to Waynesville. Roy was a devoted NASCAR fan, and had associations with the Petty's, Lee and Richard. Roy was a member of the First Baptist Church, Clyde. Roy is survived by his sister, Lucille Sue Blaylock, of Waynesville; brother, Lawrence, and his wife, Helen, of Waynesville; several nieces and nephews. Roy was the Godfather to a special person, Jennifer Gibson, of Lewisville, North Carolina. A very special thank you to Dr. James Weaver, his family doctor for several years, Nurses and CNA's at The Homestead and Maggie Valley Nursing Home & Rehabilitation. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 26, 2017 at First Baptist Church, Clyde with Reverend Dr. T. David Phillips officiating. Burial will follow at Ratcliffe Cove Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. at the church prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, Clyde, parking lot fund, P. O.
