Roy Neadom Efird



Roy Neadom Efird, 80, of Brightwood, died Tuesday, March 2, 2009, at his residence.

He was born March 11, 1928, in Stanley, North Carolina, a son of the late Luther H. Efird and Margie Van Hoy Efird. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Luther H. Efird Jr., and Allen David Efird; two sisters, Lottie E. Lambert and Flossie E. Caudle.

He was a member of Culpeper Assembly of God and Fairfax Masonic Lodge # 43, A.F. and A.M. Mr. Efird was a retired United States Army Sergeant First Class after 22 years.

He is survived by his wife, Iva B. Efird of Brightwood; one daughter, Marcia E. White of Brightwood; stepson, Edward L. Johnston of Brightwood; one granddaughter, Brittany C. White; one step-grand-daughter, Kimberly J. Webber; two step-great-grand-daughters, Katy and Kelly Webber; and host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, March 6, 2009, at Preddy Funeral Home Chapel in Madison conducted by the Reverend Randy Albritton. The interment will be held at Culpeper National Cemetery (New Section) with military honors by Culpeper American Legion Post 330 and Culpeper V.F.W. 2524.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday, March 5, 2009, at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Culpeper Assembly of God Church, 120 Chestnut Drive, Culpeper, VA 22701.
