Roy Lee Green Jr.

Roy Lee Green, Jr. was a true Renaissance man. He was always involved with the various forms of art. He was a leader in our community and a friend to all that met him. To sit on the porch and share life´s memories with him will be with me forever. Rest in Peace Brother, you deserve it.

Roy Green's laughter, smile, kindness, appreciation for the arts, and keen intellect will be profoundly missed by those of us who had the privilege of knowing him since his retirement to Mt. Pleasant over two decades ago. He was a cherished friend and neighbor, and I am confident that many others share my feeling that he and his beloved Theresa enriched our lives. Heaven has undoubtedly welcomed a remarkable curator of jazz. Rest in peace, dear friend.

All of us at the Gibbes are deeply saddened by the news of Roy's passing. As a volunteer and Board member, he was an integral part of launching so many wonderful programs and events at the Gibbes Museum of Art, especially the Gibbes on the Street event for which he was honored last year.
