Its hard to believe that it has been 11 years since Ambassador Huffington died at 90. My initial condolences centered on my relationship with Roy through the Huffington Center on Aging at Baylor College of Medicine where I still work. Of his many contributions to humanity, endowing the HCOA will be remembered as one that gave people a chance for a better old age.
In reading the many comments extending condolences to his family, I was struck with how many were from his Alpha Tau...

My deepest condolences to the Huffington Family. I had the chance to serve on the Alpha Tau Omega Foundation Board of Governors with Roy. He was a visionary who was not only thoughtful and showed tremendous amounts of humility, he was always in good humor and not afraid to share his personal experiences. Love & respect

As a faculty of the Huffington Center on Aging, my professional career has benefited greatly from the generosity of Mr. Huffington. However, I will forever remember Mr. Huffington as a kind and sweet gentleman who could make friends with anybody. I went to say Hi and, as usual, he gave me a big bear hug. My son, about...

As the wife of an ATO Foundation board member the past six years, I learned early on that one of the great benefits of attending those meetings was the opportunity to get to know Roy. I’m just sorry he wasn’t part of my life longer. His intellect, wisdom, personal warmth, and fine listening skills - combined, of course, with his exceptional life accomplishments - made him one of the great memorable people of my life. I am thankful for the opportunity to know him, and grateful for the civic...

When Roy made his initial major gift to the ATO Foundation he placed a restriction on it; he wanted to ensure that it continued to increase “one hundred years from now.” His leadership and generosity will have that same positive legacy far beyond the city of Houston. It was a privilege to serve with him on the ATO Foundation. I extend my sympathy to Terri and Michael.
