Roy Layson Obituary
Macon, Georgia- Roy P. Layson, 79, died Sunday, February 8, 2015 at Pine Pointe Hospice. Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 12, 2015 at 11:00 am in the chapel of Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home with burial following in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery with Fire Department Honors. The family will greet friends Wednesday night at the funeral home from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm. The family requests that donations be made to Fire Safety Educational Fund, 1191 First St., Macon, GA 31201 or Pine Pointe Hospice, 6261 Peake Rd., Macon, GA 31210.
Mr. Layson was born in Monticello, Georgia to the late Ernest and Mattie Wagner Layson and was preceded in death by his siblings, Louise Hayes, Ernest "Peanut" Layson, and Ernestine Layson. He was the Training Chief for the Macon-Bibb County Fire Department and was a veteran of the United States Army. Mr. Layson attended Forest Hills United Methodist Church and was a member of the Pairs and Squares Square Dancing Club.
Survivors include his former wife, Arline T. Layson; daughter, Kim (Chuck) Combs; son, Keith (Phoebe) Layson; grandchildren, Jessica Weller, Emily (Michael) Dunn, Ashley Bozeman, Shawn Jones, and David Jones; eight great grandchildren; sister, Gail Rogers; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will be receiving friends at Kim and Chuck Comb's residence.

Chief Roy was my Mentor for many years and he was also part of my extended Family. Roy is a Hero among Heros and will be sadly missed by all those who's lives he touched.
