DECATUR — Roy Edward "Eddie" O'Daniel, 59, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2016, at Memorial Hospital, in Chattanooga, after an amazing and brave fight against liver cancer . A native of Athens and resident of Decatur most of his life, he was a loving father, papaw and friend and worked as a purchasing agent for Sheehan Pipeline Co. He was a member of Restoration Church and Meigs Lodge No. 213 F.&A.M. He served on the 2nd Armorment Division in the U.S. Army and was preceded in death by his father, Johnny E. O'Daniel; grandparents, Lula and John O'Daniel and D.W. "Dart" and Mellie Wilson; and stepfather, Lawrence Green. Survivors include mother, Bertha O'Daniel Green Haynes, of Decatur; stepmother, Carrie Lee O'Daniel, of Athens; two daughters and son-in-laws, Melissa and Charlie Miller and Laura J.and Dave Albertson, both of Decatur; six grandchildren; Dixie Martin, Dylan Martin, Austin Miller, Nathan and Amanda Miller, Tyler Miller and Cody Miller; three great-grandchildren, Dustin Miller, Paisley Miller, Declan Miller; one brother and sister-in-law, Danny and Linda O'Daniel, of Cleveland; sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and Donald Malone, of Athens; stepbrother; Mike Farner, of Athens; uncle; Ben O'Daniel, of Chattanooga; aunt, Mary Layman, of Decatur; First wife and mother of his children, Debbie O'Daniel, several nieces and nephews; special friends, Don Blair, Terry Brown; lifelong friend and brother, Johnny Hope. Masonic services will be 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 21, 2016, in chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with a funeral service to follow, with the Rev. Johhny Hope officiating. Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, 2016, at Cedar Grove Cemetery, with Military Honors. Pallbearers will be Charlie Miller, Nathan Miller , Dave Albertson, Chuck Letsinger,Tom Richeson, Michael Lawson, Terry Brown. Honorary pallbearers Don Blair, Dylan Martin, Austin Miller. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday prior to the sevice, at Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home.
