Roy C. Turner

CAREY: Roy C. Turner, 71, of Carey, Ohio, formerly of Mansfield, died Wednesday, December 25, 2013 at Blanchard Valley Hospital in Findlay, Ohio. Born August 28, 1942 in Lockbourne, Ohio, he was the son of Herbert and Dicie Turner.

He attended the Ohio School for the Deaf in Columbus, Ohio and had worked for Shawnee Optical, Hamilton Standard and retired from McDonald's in Carey, Ohio where he worked in maintenance. He was a member of First United Brethren Church in Findlay, Ohio and a former member of the Mansfield Deaf Club. He loved to eat out, attend 4-H shows, woodworking and being with friends. Roy was a caring and kind man who loved people and was never in a bad mood ~ he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Brenda Turner of Carey; his dachshund, Jema; two sons, Harry (Candace) Turner of Columbus, Ohio and Clinton (Alotta) Turner of Blissfield, Ohio; five grandchildren, Harry Turner, Jr., Samantha Turner-Greenich, Jeremiah Turner, Reggie Turner and Matthew Turner; two great grandchildren and three step grandchildren; a dearly loved niece, Jenna Lee Jones; a sister, Wilma Turner Bray of Florida; two sisters-in-law, Nedra (Greg) Jones of Butler, Ohio and Charlotte Wilson of Canton, Ohio; and good friends, Gena Stillwell and Marty Jo Williams.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Herbert and John Turner; a sister, Dicie Hobson; and Sophie, his dachshund whom he loved dearly.

Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Monday, December 30, 2013 at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road, Ontario. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at the funeral home conducted by Pastor John Wiseman. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park.
