Waggoner, R. Wayne – age 70 of Strawberry Plains, passed away suddenly on Monday, November 29th. He was a member of Jefferson City Christian Church. Mr. Waggoner was retired from the Gulf Oil Corporation, and he was the owner of Clutch and Brake Rebuilders from 1982 -2003. He was also a founding member and pull coordinator of the East TN Tractor Pullers Association. He was preceded in death by parents, Lee and Dorothy Waggoner. Survivors include wife of 51 years, Janis Waggoner; daughter, Sherry and husband Randy Lewis of Afton, TN; brother, Ronnie L. Waggoner of Floyd's Knob, IN; several nieces and nephews; and special pet, Ritzy. The family will receive friends from 5-7pm on Thursday, December 2nd at McCarty-Evergreen Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 7pm with Rev. Bobby Emmert officiating. Family and friends will meet at the funeral home at 10:30am on Friday, December 3rd to go in procession to Thorngrove Cemetery for an 11am interment service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice or to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 840692 Dallas, TX 75284.
