Not sure what to say?

Of all my mentors in undergraduate and graduate study, there is no question but what Roy is the one who remains in my heart with most affection. The excellence of his scholarship and pedagogical skills were always obvious. But his personal skills were what truly stood out, especially for an MA student like me, just beginning my graduate school journey. My wife and I both became closer to him and his family than in the case of any other academic mentor. He will remain in my heart, and always...

Roy's mentorship and support changed the course of my professional life and, by extension, my life as a whole. I have mentioned to countless people over the course of my career the difference that he made. Until it's my time, my gratitude and memories of his kindness remain. Blessings to all those who loved him.

Our sincere sharing in your loss of Dr. Ward.
I knew him from the 1960s. I was minister at the Church of Christ in Oxford, Ohio. We were deeply supportive in the role faith had in the lives of students. George Huber, Gainesville, FL.

But Roy, who was my principal mentor there, changed my mind. He did it not by persuasion, but by being a person whose career and character I admired. By a year or so into my MA, I was hooked, and...

Our memories were many with Roy and family when we lived in Oxford and then Hamilton Ohio when Mike studied under Roy at Miami U. of Ohio. We cherish the personal friendships that we made with Roy and his family then. He was an outstanding and wonderful man and we were blessed to be a little part of his life. He will always be a part of our lives.

Mark & Nathan,
So saddened to hear of your father's passing. You are all in my thoughts and prayers in this difficult time.

My sincere condolances to Professor Ward's family. He remains to this day an important influence on my intellectual development, and I feel honored to have been a student of his as an undergraduate.

-David Kareken (Indianapolis, IN)

Professor Ward was a primary guide in my pursuing a good and sensible education. I am sorry for the loss of him.
