Professor Burton introduced me to William Faulkner when I attended Stockton State in 1977. When I was going through treatment for cancer in 2017 to 2019 I decided to read everything that Faulner wrote because Professor Burton made such an impression upon me and now I actually had time to read all the novels and stories. Royce Burton was the bravest man alive. He enlisted in the military after a life-saving event. He was patrolling the Rio Grande in 1940 when he got lost in a canyon after dark.
