Ruby Avery Obituary
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene C. Avery; parents, Homer and Mamie Harless; and sisters, Gypsy Jean Harless, Francis Tuten and Ruth Junkin.
Survivors include her son, Terry D. Avery (Chris); sisters, Jewel Pate, Brenda Garner (Don), Linda Porter (Doug), Dee Dockery (Ronnie) and Katherine Godfrey; grandchildren, Haley Avery Shaw (Justin) and Mary-Katherine Daws; and great-grandchildren, Adela Ruth Daws and Avery Shaw.
On the evening of October 19, 2015, Ruby Avery walked into the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The prayers of this faithful warrior are now presented at the very Throne of God. Ruby touched many lives through the teaching of his word to others. She believed in hard work and did so in her work as a bookkeeper and tax preparer. Her unlimited acts of kindness have touched many. The love and care that she poured out to others exemplified Proverbs 31. Her love for her family, granddaughters and others has lived out.
Honorary pallbearers are Don Garner, Ronnie Dockery, Doug Porter, Gene Junkin, Donna Vickers, Loria Hubbard, Dr. Sandra Dailey and the physicians of University Medical Center.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to Hospice of West Alabama and Keinagers of Temple Baptist Church.
