Ruby Boyd Obituary

Ruby Webb

Ruby Boyd Webb, 91, of Brunswick, passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord on

April 8, 2026. A true angel on Earth, Ruby lived a life defined by love, service, generosity and unwavering faith.

Born on June 21, 1934, and raised in Brunswick, Ruby was a proud graduate of Glynn Academy Class of 1952, and cherished the lifelong friendships she maintained through the years, faithfully attending class reunions. A few months before graduation, on Valentine's Day, she married the love of her life, C.L. Webb.

Ruby devoted much of her life to raising and loving her family. She worked as a secretary and bookkeeper in various family and local businesses. C.L. Webb and Ruby played an integral role in land development and community growth, including partnering in a local grocery store for several years and most known for their first subdivision development of a portion of Northwood Estates, where they also dug the lake known as the beloved "Webb's Pond." Over the years, C.L. and Ruby worked alongside several local developers on real estate projects.

Her heart for service extended far beyond business. Ruby was an active member of the Pilot Club for over a decade, where she dedicated herself to community service and attending national conventions and built lasting friendships. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life. As a longtime, devoted member of Glyndale Baptist Church, she served faithfully in the nursery and youth programs and was a participant in the Golden Harvest luncheons.

Ruby had a special gift for bringing people together. She founded the "Merry Widows Club," a group built on friendship, support and joy, which grew to 63 members who gathered for Friday night dinners and shared many memorable trips together.

Following the loss of her daughter, Ruby found healing and purpose in baking. What began as a simple act of love of giving pound cakes grew into a heartfelt ministry. Her famous sour cream pound cakes were shared with neighbors, friends, fire stations, the sheriff's department and many others throughout the community. Through these acts of kindness, she touched countless lives.

Ruby found joy in the simple pleasures - working in her yard, tending to her plants, spending time outdoors, sewing, a master at working jigsaw puzzles, and skillfully playing Mahjong and Tetris. Ruby had a knack for building fires, and if you smelled burning leaves, you didn't wonder what was going on - you just knew Ruby was home and having a good day! She was a dedicated walker with the mall walking club and remained active for many years at Spa Elite and the YWCA.

Above all, she loved her family deeply and lived her life as a shining example of grace, strength, and compassion.

She was preceded in death by her husband, C.L. Webb, Sr.; her daughter, Ruby Souter; and her siblings, Carl Boyd, Emory "Skeeter" Boyd Sr., Daisy Arnett, and Judy Purvis.

She is survived by her children, Rachel Harper (Petey), and C.L. "Buddy" Webb Jr. (Stephanie); her grandchildren, J.C. "Jamie" Souter IV (Jessica), Erin Vaughn (Brittni), Tyler Vaughn and Emily Vaughn, her great-grandchild, J.C. Souter V, and son-in-law, Jimmy Souter III (Glenda).

She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Jackie Ryals, along with many beloved nieces,

nephews and cousins.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers at Addington Place Memory Care for the love and compassion shown to Ruby, and a special thank you to Lucy Jordan for her treasured friendship.

Visitation will be held at Glyndale Baptist Church on Tuesday, April 14 at 1 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 2 p.m.

A private family burial will take place on Wednesday at Palmetto Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Glyndale Baptist Church Benevolence Fund, as requested by Ruby. You may contribute to this fund online at
