Ruby Damien

Ruby Ruth Damien, 88, was welcomed through the open doors of heaven, into the loving arms of our Lord, her husband, brothers, sister, parents, friends, and pets on April 19, 2014 in Blythe, California. Born Jan. 17, 1926, Ruby lived a long and satisfying life.  

Ruby was blessed with three true, loving partners in her life.  First was Lloyd Weber who left her a widow during WWII.  Later she met and married F. Alex Damien, who was her life partner, companion, and confidant for 48 years, until he passed from cancer in 1998.  Ruby helped Alex with his business; Alex was co-owner of the original Blythe Furniture on Hobsonway.  With Alex, she raised two children, Timothy and Gigi.  After returning to Blythe in 2001, she became Jerry McCarthy's friend and companion until he left us Thanksgiving Eve 2012.

Ruby loved the outdoors, camping, fishing, and just taking drives around the countryside.  She always kept her arms open and handheld for those in need, be it family, friends, strangers, or animals.

She was a lifetime member of the VFW Women's Auxiliary, and a member of the Junior Women's Club for years.

Ruby leaves behind two children, Timothy Damien and Gigi Henderson; three grandchildren, Jim Stocking, Amber Damien, and Chris Damien; and five great grandchildren, Rebecca Howland, Ashley, Jamie, and Nikki Stocking, and Gracie Ginter.

A visitation for Ruby will be Thursday, May 1, 2014 from 5-7 p.m. at Frye Chapel, 633 N. 7th St., Blythe. Graveside services will be Friday, May 2, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Palo Verde Cemetery, 343 W. 10th Ave., Blythe.
