Eisenhour Funeral Home - Blanchard Obituary

Ruby Joyce Darnell, 85, of Blanchard, died Sunday, April 22, 2018, at her home. The daughter of Hiram Martin Pendley, Jr. and Lillie Olef (Harrold) Pendley, she was born November 13, 1932 in Rush Springs, Oklahoma.

She met Vernon Darnell and they fell in love and were married on January 27, 1951, in Duncan, Oklahoma. They moved to Quincy, Illinois before settling in Payson, Illinois, where they raised their four children. After moving back to Oklahoma, Ruby worked for many years as an assembler for Western Electric. After retiring, Vernon and Ruby enjoyed making wood crafts together and traveling to Turner Falls with Ruth and Bob Williams, selling their crafts and meeting other people. Vernon and Ruby built and donated part of the nativity that stands beside the Blanchard First United Methodist Church at Christmastime. In her spare time, she enjoyed embroidery, reading, and playing wahoo. Her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her grandchildren and watching their ball games.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Joe Len Darnell; her husband, Vernon Darnell; a sister, Alline Oldham and twin sister, Ruth Williams; four brothers, Bennie, Olen, Boyd, and Otis Pendley.

Ruby is survived by her two daughters, Valerie Barnett and husband, Bill, of Norman, and Verna Bosse of Blanchard; one son, Jimmy Darnell of Guymon; six grandchildren, Matt Bosse of Edmond, Shaun Bosse of McAlester, Joey Darnell and wife, Mika, of Blanchard, Ricky Darnell and wife, Desiree, of Guymon, Trisha Cole and husband, Caleb, of Blanchard, and Ashley Barnett of Florida; six great grandchildren, Kyle Bosse, Zack Bosse, Rylie McAlpine, Jersey Cole, Kelton Darnell, and Landon Maldonado; one sister, June Vick and her husband, Deryl, of Alabama; one brother, Johnny Pendley and his wife, Neva, of Oklahoma City; two sisters-in-law, Jimmie Pendley of Missouri and Jo Pendley of Chickasha; and many other loved ones and friends.

Funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, April 28, 2018, at the Blanchard First United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the Blanchard Cemetery. Aunt Ruby was my second mom. I will always remember the times we went to visit her and her family, In Blanchard... Good memories. Now Uncle Johnny is sitting at the table with his family. How i miss that wonderful group of people....Rest In Peace my precious Aunt.....Johnny

I was saddened to hear about Ruby's death. I have such wonderful memories of her. She was such feisty one!! One of the best things about my friendship with Jimmy was the opportunity to get to know Ruby, Vernon and the rest of the family. Ruby was special as was Vernon. I miss our talks! Love to all. Praying for your peace and comfort.

Ruby was one of the sweetest ladies I grew to know and love. She almost like a 2nd grandma to me. I met this sweet lady the day we moved in across the street from her and Vernon the same day I turned 14. My deepest sympathies are with her family. Ruby you will be missed terribly. R.I.P. Ruby

You will never be forgotten. So many happy memories. Will always love you.
