Ruby Echols Obituary

RUBY LEE (TOLEFREE) ECHOLS Peacefully departed this life on 25 June 2002. She was born in Chicago and moved to California in 1946. Mrs. Echols was a long time employee in the Veterans Administration Hospital system from which she retired; her second retirement was after a ten-year stint as a Nurse's Assistant at Alta Bates Hospital. She was married to the late US Army Sergeant Henry Echols III. She is survived by one daughter, Jonelyn A. Whales, two sons, Dietrich Pennington and Theola Whales, all of Oakland; one brother, Romey Tolefree (Oakland) and two sisters, Mary Johnigan (Richmond) and Rosada Hill, Columbia, South Carolina. Services will be held at Palma Ceia Baptist Church, 28605 Ruus Road, Hayward, CA 94544 at 11:00 AM, Monday, 1 July 2002. Friends and family are welcome to attend the vigil on 30 June between 12 and 5 PM at C.P. Bannon Mortuary, 6800 International Blvd. in Oakland, California. C.P. BANNON MORTUARY (510) 632-1011
