Thompson-Lengacher and Yoder Funeral Home - Nappanee Obituary

Ruby Arlene Farmwald, age 83, of Goshen, formerly of Nappanee, Indiana, died on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at 2:30 pm, at her residence in Goshen.  She was born on December 10, 1940 to Roman and Mary (Yoder) Mullet and lived in Nappanee for nearly 78 years before moving to Goshen.  Ruby was a 1959 graduate of Bethany High School and graduated from Vincennes College of Nursing in 1961. Ruby married Kenneth R. Farmwald on September 10, 1961 in Nappanee.  She had worked at Methodist and Bremen Hospitals and at Anglemeyer Family Doctors office in Nappanee for 35 years.  She was a long-time member of the North Main Street Mennonite Church and Bourbon Chapel.  Ruby loved flowers and watching birds feed at the many birdfeeders she placed in her yard, she loved traveling both domestic and abroad and enjoyed family camping trips.  She loved reading, especially books of faith, and was passionate about sharing her faith in the Lord with others.  Ruby enjoyed sending hand written notes of thanks, appreciation, and encouragement and of course enjoyed spending time with her family.  Ruby never met a baby she did not adore.  She went on numerous medical mission trips to Honduras and Africa.  Ruby and Ken spent 12 years doing pre-martial mentoring.  Surviving is her husband, Kenneth; 3 children, Tracy Scott Farmwald of Goshen, Quinton Ray Farmwald of Nappanee, and Marlis (Eric) Chupp of Goshen; and Tammy Bean, whom Ruby and Kenneth raised just like a daughter of their own; 4 grandchildren, Chase Farmwald, Leah Dumph, Alana Chupp and Sander Bean; 1 great grandchild, Kennedy Dumph; 3 sisters, Freida (Carlyle) Welty of Arden, NC, Betty (Lee) Hochstetler of Goshen, and Carolyn Mullet of Eugene, OR.  Ruby was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Alvin Mullet; and sister-in-law, Kathy (Leichty) Mullet.  Visitation will be held on Friday, April 12, 2024, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., at Berea Christian Fellowship Church in Nappanee.   A funeral service will take place on Saturday, April 13th at 11 a.m., also at Berea Christian Fellowship.  Reverend Brent Liechty will officiate.   Memorial contributions in Ruby’s name can be given to Goshen Hospice.

Not sure what to say?

I grew up with Marlis, families went to bourbon chapel together when we were younger. So sorry for your loss. Family your in my thought and prayers. Marlis, I’m praying for your healing.

I grew up with Marlis, she was one of my favorite people when I was young and I have so many fond childhood memories of her, which include Ken and Ruby - special people, wonderful parents. Even though we lost touch, Marlis, if you see this, I'm thinking of you and your family. ~Anna

Thinking of Ken and your family Sorry I was out of town today. Praying for peace and comfort Cheri Holmes Shear Style

Ruby was such a special aunt to us. I always loved touring her flower garden every summer. She was always so loving, kind and interested in us. This picture is from June 2022. Since they moved to Goshen I enjoyed walking to visit Kenny and Ruby from Leon and Esther’s house. She will be missed, but we know she is a special place in heaven. Much love to the family. Vicki

I've worked with many nurses in my lifetime and Ruby was far and away the BEST. Her dedication, compassion, and knowledge trumped all. She was loved by so many and positively touched countless lives. Penny and I will miss her dearly.

Nate and I have very fond memories of Ruby. She went on a mission trip with us to Honduras and served others beautifully. The family will be in our prayers. God bless.

Ruby was such a special lady. Always so friendly.
