Ruby Arlene Farmwald, age 83, of Goshen, formerly of Nappanee, Indiana, died on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at 2:30 pm, at her residence in Goshen. She was born on December 10, 1940 to Roman and Mary (Yoder) Mullet and lived in Nappanee for nearly 78 years before moving to Goshen. Ruby was a 1959 graduate of Bethany High School and graduated from Vincennes College of Nursing in 1961. Ruby married Kenneth R. Farmwald on September 10, 1961 in Nappanee. She had worked at Methodist and Bremen Hospitals and at Anglemeyer Family Doctors office in Nappanee for 35 years. She was a long-time member of the North Main Street Mennonite Church and Bourbon Chapel. Ruby loved flowers and watching birds feed at the many birdfeeders she placed in her yard, she loved traveling both domestic and abroad and enjoyed family camping trips. She loved reading, especially books of faith, and was passionate about sharing her faith in the Lord with others. Ruby enjoyed sending hand written notes of thanks, appreciation, and encouragement and of course enjoyed spending time with her family. Ruby never met a baby she did not adore. She went on numerous medical mission trips to Honduras and Africa. Ruby and Ken spent 12 years doing pre-martial mentoring. Surviving is her husband, Kenneth; 3 children, Tracy Scott Farmwald of Goshen, Quinton Ray Farmwald of Nappanee, and Marlis (Eric) Chupp of Goshen; and Tammy Bean, whom Ruby and Kenneth raised just like a daughter of their own; 4 grandchildren, Chase Farmwald, Leah Dumph, Alana Chupp and Sander Bean; 1 great grandchild, Kennedy Dumph; 3 sisters, Freida (Carlyle) Welty of Arden, NC, Betty (Lee) Hochstetler of Goshen, and Carolyn Mullet of Eugene, OR. Ruby was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Alvin Mullet; and sister-in-law, Kathy (Leichty) Mullet. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 12, 2024, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., at Berea Christian Fellowship Church in Nappanee. A funeral service will take place on Saturday, April 13th at 11 a.m., also at Berea Christian Fellowship. Reverend Brent Liechty will officiate. Memorial contributions in Ruby’s name can be given to Goshen Hospice.
