RUBY CARLENE GUMMINGER Ruby Carlene Gumminger, of Independence, MO passed away October 7, 2017, at home surrounded by her family. Service will be 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 13, at Nativity of Mary Catholic Church, 10017 E. 36th Terr. S. Independence, MO 64052. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral with the Rosary at 10:45 a.m. Burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. She spent part of her life at Gillis Home, where memorial contributions may be made in her honor. Carlene was born June 12, 1930. She graduated from Manual High School as a member of the National Honor Society. She was married 52 years to Jim, who preceded her in death, as well as three siblings. She leaves behind three daughters, nine grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and two great, great grandchildren. During her life, she worked at a record store, movie theater, a school cafeteria, and for the election board. She volunteered thousands of hours at Baptist Medical Center, served communion at church and to shut-ins, and was a Girl Scout leader. Carlene loved people and possessed the gift of gab. She enjoyed baking, crafts, playing cards and games, shopping and movies. She loved her family with all her heart and soul and truly believed she had a wonderful life.
