Ruby Henson Obituary

Ruby Lee Henson, 96, of Laton, California entered into eternal rest on Saturday, September 18, 2010 in Hanford, California.

Ruby was born in Arkansas and was raised and educated in Oklahoma. At the age of nineteen she began her teaching career in Oklahoma. She received her teaching credential from Oklahoma State Teacher's College in Talequah, OK. In 1938 she married Pete Henson in Oklahoma and in 1939 they moved to California, living in various places. In 1953 Pete and Ruby settled in Laton, California where they raised their family. Ruby taught school in Laton for eight years and during that time attended Fresno State, receiving her Bachelor's degree in Education in 1956. She was a member of the Laton Pentecostal Church of God. Ruby enjoyed gardening, especially vegetables, knitting, crocheting, quilting and baking. Her specialty was her light bread and cinnamon rolls and homemade ice cream. Ruby was preceded in death by Myrna Wharton and Clarence Henson.

Ruby is survived by her five children, Harrold Henson of Oklahoma, Leah Korff of Laton, CA, Clifford Henson of Laton, CA, Pete Henson of Laton, CA and Kenneth Henson of Squaw Valley, CA; 20 grandchildren and 42 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, September 22, 2010 at 11 a.m. at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Laton, CA.
