Ruby Hudson Obituary

Zebulon
Ruby Holland Hudson 81, of Zebulon, died Sunday, June 5, 2011.
Ruby was a retired Registered Nurse from WakeMed Hospital System with 34 years of service. She received the Great 100 Nursing Award.
Ruby enjoyed a full and active life. She was involved with Zebulon Baptist Church, where she served on both the Administration and Ministry Deacon Boards, in the Hand Bell Choir, and Sunday School Class President. She also served as a volunteer in the church office and on the Personnel Committee.
Ruby was a member and Regent of the Cornelius Harnett Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a charter member and a Past President of the Zebulon Lion's Auxiliary, member and Past President of the Zebulon Junior Woman's Club and a Girl Scout Leader.
Ruby enjoyed playing bridge and a variety of needle work. She was famous for her pound cakes.
Ruby is survived by her husband of 60 years, Crafton Hudson of Zebulon; daughter Paula Hudson Hildebrand of Wake Forest; son Crafton Stuart Hudson and his wife Becky McGee Hudson of Wilmington; two grandsons Jonathan Hudson Hildebrand of Richmond, VA and Joseph Holland Hildebrand of Raleigh; granddaughter Abbey McGee Hudson of Wilmington; and sister Helen Holland Tew of Salemburg and numerous relatives.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at the Zebulon Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Gethsemane Memorial Gardens, Zebulon, NC.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Tuesday, June 7, 2011 at Zebulon Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the International Rett Syndrome Foundation, at 4600 Devitt Dr. Cincinnati, OH 45246 or the Zebulon Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 366, Zebulon NC 27597.

Dear Mr. Hudson, Paula , and family,
I was saddened to read of Ruby's passing. She was a wonderful person in every regard. In my capacity at WakeMed I had the opportunity to work with her when she was at Eastern Wake Hospital. She was professional, accomplished, caring, patient (with new administrators like me), and always had a terrific sense of humor . I certainly learned a lot from her. I hope that with family, faith , and friends that you will get through this sad time . Take care.

Crafton, Paula and Stuart - I loved Ruby and will miss my friend. I always enjoyed being with her at church either in deacon meetings, handbell choir or wherever else we were serving together. My thoughts and prayers will be with all of you during this sad time.

Mr Hudson, Paula and Stuart, I am so sorry to hear about Ms Ruby. I never saw her without a smile on her face. She was dearly loved by all.

Crafton, Paula and Stuart Ruby was a great mentor for me. She was a lot of help and encouragement to me as a 20 year old. Often think of our working together. Just know she was a very special person. Caffie Flowers (Zebulon, NC)

I am so sorry you have lost Ruby. I will miss seeing her at the DAR meetings and I feel her loss so much. I telephoned Crafton when I heard things were not going too well but feel sure he hasn't had time to deal with phone call s at that time but I wanted him to know I was thinking about all of you.
