Ruby Fowler Jones departed this life on Sunday, January 27, 2008, at Bedford Memorial Hospital. She was born on September 28, 1917, to the late Clinton Fowler and Sallie Faulkner. She is preceded in death by her former husband, Thomas "Shock" Jones, daughter, Carolyn Jones, step-mother, Sarah Fowler, sister, Marie Anderson and brothers, William Randolph Fowler, Thomas Fowler Sr., Dock and Freddie Fowler. She is survived by two daughters, Sandra Herndon (Charles) and Arlinda Helm (Lewis); two sons, Thomas Jones, Jr. (Barbara) and Linwood Jones (Ardella); one dear cousin, Corrine Saunders and a number of dedicated nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren and friends. A funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m., Saturday, February 2, 2008, at Rivermont Baptist Church with Reverend Ernest Penn officiating and Reverend James Cobbs eulogist. Interment will be in the Baptist Cemetery. Her remains will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service. The family is receiving friends and the cortege will assemble at 512 Fauquier Street, Lynchburg. Condolences can be emailed to [email protected]. Community Funeral Home directing.
