Lindley-Robertson-Holt Funeral Home - Navasota Obituary

Ruby Marie Goessler Meekins, 88, of Navasota, died Saturday morning, March 6, 2021, at her home.


Visitation will take place from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Monday, March 8, 2021, at Lindley-Robertson-Holt Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be held 10:30 am Tuesday, March 9, 2021, at Friedens Church of Washington, UCC,  20301 FM 1155 East, in Washington with Pastor Eric Dehmer officiating.  Following a reception of cookies and coffee, gravesides services will be at 1:00 pm in Oakland Cemetery, 801 6th Street, in Navasota. 


Serving as pallbearers will be Bradley Meekins, Jason Meekins, Darron Holmes, Gary Goessler, Kevin Goessler, Karl Goessler, Hardy Meekins and James Meekins.  Names as honorary pallbearers are Chase Meekins, Aaron Ramos, Christopher Romas, Tom Beck and Thomas Acosta, Jr.


Ruby was born September 14, 1932 in Washington to Fritz Carl and Hulda Wiese Goessler.  She attended elementary school in Washington and later graduated from Brenham High School.  Ruby worked for McIntyre Motors prior to her marriage to Mace Henderson Meekins on February 20, 1955 at Friedens Church.  They settled in Navasota where she enjoyed cooking and baking and being a loving wife and mother to her two sons.  When Mace retired, they enjoyed traveling across the United States all the way to Alaska as well as Canada and Nova Scotia. 


Ruby was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Mace.


Survivors include her two sons, Cecil Meekins and wife Melissa of Brenham and Danny Meekins and wife Brenda of Navasota; a brother, Hilbert Goessler and wife Lena Mae of Brenham; 7 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren along with numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.


The family thanks Ruby’s care givers for the loving kindness, Yeni (Jenny) Mencia, Nereida Garcia, Aracely Coronado, Katie Wheatfall and Elizabeth Hinojosa, Dr. Luke Scamardo, II, MD and Traditions Hopice.


In lieu of usual remembrances, the family suggests memorials in Ruby’s name to Friedens Church of Washington, UCC, PO Box 306, Washington, TX 77880-0306.

I was raised at Old Washington. I knew Ruby all my life, She was such a wonderful person. She married a wonderful man. I knew Mace since their marriage. I am so sorry to learn of her passing.
