Ruby M. Murdock

Ruby M. Murdock, 75, of Onawa, Iowa, died Thursday, July 30, 2015 at Creighton Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska. Memorial services will be held 10:30 A.M. Monday, August 3, 2015 at the Faith Lutheran Church in Onawa, with Pastor Joel Gueningsman officiating. Inurnment will be in the Onawa Cemetery Columbaria Court. Visitation will be held 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. Sunday, August 2, 2015 at the Rush Family Chapel in Onawa with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service in Onawa. Ruby Margaret was born June 24, 1940 in Syracuse, Nebraska, the daughter of Chris and Melvina (Beckman) Johanns. She graduated from Fremont High School in May 1958. Ruby and Kenneth Murdock were united in marriage on November 10, 1997 in Elk Point, South Dakota. She worked for Hovland Manufacturing and Bohan's Furniture, both in Sioux City. She was an active member of the Faith Lutheran Church in Onawa. She loved to cook and bake, and was an excellent seamstress. She enjoyed making quilts for her family and friends. Survivors include her husband, Kenneth Murdock of Onawa, IA; her son, Brian (Shelley) Jewell of McCook Lake, SD; four grandchildren, Devin (Brittney) Merritt of Missouri Valley, IA, Wade Treloar of Sioux City, IA, Morgan Jewell of Elk Point, SD, and Zane Treloar of McCook Lake, SD; and one sister, Lois Straw of Kimberling City, MO. She was preceded in death by her parents, Chris and Melvina Johanns; sister, Betty Downey; and brother, Eldon Johanns.
