SHANNON

Ruby Lee Turner Shannon passed away on Thursday, January 7, 2016 in the loving presence of her family. She was 92. Ms. Shannon was born in Hazlehurst, MS and lived in New Orleans for the past 58 years. She retired as an obstetric technician after more than 20 years of service with Hotel Dieu Hospital. Survivors include one daughter, Betty S. Griffin of New Orleans, LA and one son, William (LaVerne) Carter of Paducah, KY; five grandchildren, Piper Griffin of New Orleans, LA; Lisa Griffn of Atlanta, GA; Michael (Bonnie) Carter of West Orange, New Jersey; LaShanna Carter of Atlanta, GA and Felicia Glover of Denver, CO; three great grandchildren, Brandon, Olivia and Shelby of West Orange, NJ; brothers and sisters in-laws Mattie (Eddie) Shannon of New Orleans, LA; Willie (Betty) Shannon of Kansas City, KS; Thomas (Deloris) Shannon of East St. Louis, MO; Issac Shannon; Sallie (Sidney) Stapleton; George Shannon and Barbra Reese of Hazlehurst, MS and Rosa Shannon of Atlanta, GA. She also leaves to cherish her memories a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also Pastor, Officers and Members of Buena Vista Missionary Baptist Church, Rev. Gregory Jones, Sr., Pastor and Second Baptist Church 6th District, Rev. Dr. Samuel Gibbs, Jr., Pastor are invited to attend the Funeral Services on Friday, January 15, 2016 at Buena Vista Missionary Baptist Church, 2518 Clio Street - New Orleans, LA. at 6:00 pm. Visitation from 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm. Followed by Funeral Services on Sunday, January 17, 2016 at Greater New Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 4063 Antioch Road- Hazlehurst, MS. at 1:00 pm.
