Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home & Crematory - Ardmore Obituary

Funeral services for Ruby Deloris Smith will be 2:00 PM, Wednesday, October 8, 2025 in the Centennial Chapel with Reverend Bruce Kirby officiating. Interment will follow at Provence Cemetery with the assistance of Steve Irwin, Jason Wilmond, Richard Hartsell, Josh Martinez and Aaron Rivera serving as pallbearers. 


The family will receive friends at the Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home Tuesday evening from 6-7 p.m.


The daughter of the late Willie Otis Miller and Bernice Cleo (Sherwood) Miller, Ruby was born on August 2, 1934 in McMillan, and passed away on October 4, 2025 in a local nursing facility at the age of 91 years, 2 months and 2 days.


She and Donald Lee Smith were married on December 8, 1962 in Gainesville, Texas and he preceded her in death on December 17, 1987.


A resident of the Ardmore area most of her life she had worked in housekeeping with Dorchster Inn, Days Inn and the Hampton Inn. She had previously worked with area Rest Stops on I-35, Sr. Citizens Center at Dougherty and the Madill School cafeteria. She was of the Pentecostal faith.


 She leaves to cherish her memories: sons, Michael Lee Smith and Stephen Ray Hawkins; daughters, Donna Kay Eichin, Lana Fay Johnson and husband Tom and Karen Ruth Hartsell and husband Richard; 9 grandchildren and 5 great- grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents; son, Granville DeWayne Smith; daughter-in-law, Joy Hawkins; son-in-law, Gary Eichin.


Memorial donations may be made to the Cross Timbers Hospice 207 C Street SW Ardmore, OK 73401.
