CLOSED-Harvey Family Funeral Home Obituary

Ruby H. Stephens
Born November 30, 1915 in Chicago, IL; died January 31, 2018 at her home in Seattle.
Survived by her nieces, Frances Gough (Anthony Robins) and Catherine Cesaro (Wayne); grandniece, Christina Foulk (A.J.); and grandnephews, Charles and John Michael Robins.
Ruby Harriette Gough was raised on Lake Union and Whidbey Island. She was in the last class to graduate high school from Blessed Sacrament School, and attended Seattle University where she studied Chemistry. During WWII, she met and married mariner Eric Stephens from the Isle of Wight and they lived in Burnaby, BC for nearly 60 years until Eric’s passing. Ruby later relocated to Seattle, closer to her brothers and extended family.
Ruby had a varied working career, from the US War Department to running a medical office for many years.
Ruby had a deep love for and devotion to family. Holidays were magical, and many happy summers were spent on Whidbey Island at the family beach cabin.
Art, particularly watercolor, was Ruby’s passion. She studied and taught, inspired by her love of earth and nature. Ruby delighted in sharing her work and her joy of creativity in all forms. She was an excellent seamstress and chef. Her love of travel was a source of both inspiration and wisdom.
Ruby approached life with tolerance and kindness, great generosity and true interest in people. She lived independently, always encouraging and inspiring others. She had a great mind to the end. Ruby was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, February 10th at 1 PM at
Blessed Sacrament Church
5041 9th Ave NE, Seattle 98105
Interment, Acacia Cemetery
