On a cold winter day a baby girl was born on January 28, 1935 to Cleveland and Lillie Mae Bradley Thomas in Ringgold, Louisiana. She graduated from high school in 1955. She worked for Houston Independent School District for 37 years until she retired. She also baked pies and cakes for people for many years. That is what she loved. Mother always smiled, she loved people and her door was always open to others. She was a devoted loving and direct person. She became a grandmother to several incredible grandchildren who called her "Grand-mow".
Ruby departed this life on December 9, 2015. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ezzard Wheaton; parents, Cleveland and Lillie Mae Thomas; a son Louis J. Derry; 2 granddaughters; and 12 sisters and brothers.
She leaves to cherish her memories: a sister, Euth L. Gage; 3 daughters, Mary Fayle Bradley, Lillie Mae Derry and Erma Kemp; 1 son Edward; 30 grand and great-grandchildren; several other relatives, and friends.
