OMG, how am I just now hearing about this? I had the honor of working under Dr. Byrd at Morehouse as the Counseling Coordinator for Upward Bound Math/Science. She was truly a titan in the TRiO world-sharp, compassionate, and unrelenting in her commitment to students. She taught me how to write grants-and how to write them well. Omg another part of my youth is gone I will treasure the 5 years spent hanging with the crew at the trio program .... I remember being there when she became mayor she was so inspirational

Dr. Byrd was a giving and compassionate person who helped many during her time on earth. She sowed many acts of goodness, prosperity and love to those who sought to excel in life. Dr. Byrd is deeply missed, but her spirit is still amongst all that were a part of her journey. Love and continued blessings to her family.

inna lillahi wa inallah-e-raji'oon. Dr. Byrd has been on my mind hard lately, May Allah expand her grave and fill it with light.

I am forever grateful to my mentor Dr. Byrd for her selfless passion to help others. She had such a heart of gold. The wonderful memories and gut wrenching laughs will stay with me forever. Thank you for loving your Trio Staff and my family especially my daughter Jasmine who you treated like your own. We are here for all the children because we are family. Love you all.
