Not sure what to say?

President Poecker instilled in me a love for the Book of Mormon as a young, ill-prepared missionary in 1976. I really cannot express what that has meant to me. The beacon he lit for me never died, though I often turned my back. He will always have a place in my heart.

We elders of Israel came and joined with you President. You taught us, "if we're united, we all things can do." Under your direction, we visited the weary, the hungry, and poor. And we cheered up their hearts with the news that He bore.

I will always be grateful for the great lessons you taught me. Und ich werde immer begeistert.

President Rudolf Poecker was the greatest man that I ever knew that I could also consider my personal friend. He & Sister Poecker loved the Lord and caused me and many others to love and serve Him better. The tender empty place in our hearts is soothed by the knowledge that we will be able to again embrace these spiritual gaints on passing through the final veil, where Jesus will dry every tear. We will miss you till then.

I will always appreciate the example you and Sister Poecker set for me in serving the Savior. I often tell the story of you and President Kindt to my friends and associates. You were a modern day example of the love of Alma and the brothers of Mosiah. I am so happy that you are united with your sweetheart and am sure that we will meet again in the next life.

Countless are the lives you have touched, mine being one of them. Thank you for all you have done in serving us and teaching us the gospel of Jesus Christ. You led by example and with love. I hope we can live up to the standards you have set for all of us.

Vielen dank, bis auf widershen.
