Not sure what to say?

Growing up in the Orchard, I don´t remember a time when I didn´t know the name, Rudy Chmura. He was a friend to many including my uncles, Tex & Joe Pagos, and my Mom, Ann Haberern. Always with my Mom, we would bump into Rudy every now and then. I remember him as being friendly and easygoing, and who always had time for a chat. He was one of the good guys! On behalf of the Pagos/Haberern family, sincerest condolences to Rudy's family.

Betty, Paula, and Doug, I remember Rudy mostly as an "uncle" or "brother" to my father Soupy. He was a man with a kind heart and always a word of encouragement. I will cherish the memories I have of him and his brother Steve along with my father having a laugh at Smarty´s Spa or Chmura´s Bakery with the rest of the legendary Indian Orchard crew.

Deepest Sympathy from the Family of John J Wajdula an old Indian Orchard friend

Paula & Family we are sad to hear of Rudy's passing. May he rest in peace and visit with all his PAV Charter Members and one including my Dad Teddy PIWO & my Uncle Max. Tom and I remember campaigning for Rudy that was a Win. And attending many PAV functions with you and Rudy. He was quite a guy and always had a lot to say with that smile. Betty cherish all your memories of Rudy, remember the good times. Love to all! Dolores (Piwowarczyk)Goraj Tom Goraj Former PAV Director

I grew up living at the corner of Middlesex Street and Westford Circle in Springfield, MA next door to the Mercers and was 11 years old when I attended Betty and Rudy´s wedding. Remembering that occasion each time I have gone to Chmura´s bakery. I was having such a good time at the wedding reception that my parents let me stay longer and I believe I went home with Betty´s parents. Betty, I am sorry for your loss. I married late in life and my husband died 3 and 1/2 years ago. Perhaps you will...

Dear Mrs. Chmura, Paula and Doug. My sympathies to all of you and the family. Your dad was a good friend to my father and I have fond memories of growing up with Paula and Doug in the neighborhood. Your dad actually helped me begin my career with the Sheriff's Office and I am thankful. May he rest in peace. Tom Kalil and family

sorry to read of the passing of Rudy, going back a number of years I met Rudy thru the friendship he had with my Dad,and the 16Acres Lions Club,he was always ready to help when ever he was needed, or always had beneficial advise, with a cheerful smile or just a helping hand. These kinds of men are now somewhat hard to find.Rest In Peace Rudy.R.Restaino///Friend

As a fellow veteran of the Wilbraham Polish American Veterans I will always remember Rudy when we worked on various activities and for his input at meetings. All who new him will miss him. My condolences to all his family. Past Commander Louie Grondalski Jr.

Rudy was the best Superintendent the Soldiers Home ever had. He deeply cared for his fellow veterans. Rudy was loved by the staff at the Home. He respected and valued his staff and their suggestions and opinions. I was honored to have worked with him for many years.
