Not sure what to say?

I’ve had Mr. Gebauer on my mind, lately. Don’t know why, but I DO know that he touched many lives, mine included. Although, at the time of his passing, which was the year of my class’s graduation in 2009, I admit I wasn’t fully old and mature enough to be fully aware of his impact in my life, at almost 35 years old, I do, now.

I see him in two of my favorite tv shows, that I wouldn’t have watched in my own, if not for him showing them to us in some of the more “laidback” class...

Mr. G was one of the most wonderful teachers that I have ever had. I had the pleasure to go on one of his many class trips to NYC that he organized for the kids he loved so much. I was also fortunate to be involved with girls soccer and planning with him which brought a twinkle to his eye. So long ugly tie contest and monty python quotes. You will not be forgotten "doctor" (which he never let us call him).

Mr. Gebauer was my Civics teacher over 30 years ago and he is one of the reasons I became a teacher myself. Thank you Mr. Gebauer, for inspiring so many students through the years!

Our family still talks about the Ugly Tie Contests! A memorable history teacher!

Farewell, Mr. Gebauer; you were probably one of the single most influential people in my life. We had our occasional issues, to be sure, but that was only to be expected from two strong-willed people with a passion for history and life. The way you helped me learn to see and study the world of both the past and the present has incalculably enriched my life. I can't imagine the person I would have been without that kind of skill. Goodbye and thank you.

Mr. Gebauer,

I will miss your witty humor, your stories, your life lessons, and your undeniable wisdom.

Thank you for bringing me through the high school years. I greatly appreciate that. You will always be remembered for your integrity.

Thanks for all the times you reached out to us, whether it was breakfast, insights, money, or school learning.

Mr. Gebauer,

Words you said to me have never ever been forgotten. You once said "Ms. Laurent, you have a disarming smile!" That was 13 years ago and I have yet to forget it.

You were such a humble man though generous and loving. You made my days even after I left McK. Seeing you at the library and around town, you always remembered me.

And so, I will never ever forget you, Mr. Gebauer. You will be terribly missed!

Mr. Gebauer,
With regret, I did not have the pleasure of learning from you in the classroom, but I will always appreciate the stories you told and the muffins and cookies you sold that got me through the day. I'm glad to have known an engaging character, such as yourself. You are indeed a legend.
