It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend, Rudy "Rudy Boy" D. Perez, 61, of Las Cruces on Friday, Nov. 16, 2012 at Memorial Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. He was born Oct. 28, 1951 in Las Cruces to Enrique and Corrina De La O Perez. Rudy Boy as he was fondly known to his family and friends was a farmer by trade and had been employed by the Las Cruces Public Schools at Lynn Middle School for five years. He was a member of the Catholic Church. Those left to mourn his passing include his loving wife, Margaret Rosales Perez of the family home; three daughters, Rosemary Perez (Richard Franco), Mary Ann Perez (Mark Velasquez), Henrietta Muñoz (Rudy Muñoz); his father, Enrique Perez; three sisters, Gloria Madrid, Rita Jacquez and Lori Melon; a stepsister, Dorine Perez all of Las Cruces. Other survivors include five grandchildren, Stephanie and Veronica Baca, Damian and Geni Chavez and Dallas Muñoz; a great granddaughter, Leah Clark. He was preceded in death by his mother; his paternal grandparents, Manuel and Rosa H. Perez, maternal grandparents, Hilario and Margarita De La O; a godson, Gary Villegas. Visitation for Mr. Perez will begin at 5 p.m. Monday, Nov. 19, 2012 in Our Lady of Purificiation Catholic Church, 5525 Cristo Rey in Doña Ana where the Prayer Vigil is scheduled for 6 p.m. Family and Friends will join together to celebrate the Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2012 in the same church with Reverend Miguel Macaya officiating. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at the Doña Ana Cemetery where he will be laid to rest. Serving as casket bearers will be Daniel Madrid Sr., Juan, Rick and Manny Rosales Jr., Sammy Villegas, Mark Velasquez, Richard Franco and Rudy Muñoz. Honorary bearers will be Damian Chavez, Veronica Baca and Stephanie Padilla, Teresa Gonzales, Mary Jo, Mario, and Michael Rosales, Ricky Ray Sauceda, Paul Galaz, Jr., Steven Villegas, Jaime Alarcon, Jason and Anthony Calderon.
