Not sure what to say?

It was a great honor to be your friend. I still remember when I used to talk with you in the gym. You gave me words nobody gave me before in my life. You were an inspiration to me. For that I always will remember you. My friend..

Rufus and I on the high school debate team. I didn't know he had passed. He was a wonderful person

Today is your birthday I am stronger than I was a few months ago but still missing you! Happy Birthday Uncle J love Friday

I am shocked and greatly saddened to hear of the passing of my friend Rufus. He played French Horn under my baton dozens of times. Excellent musician, dependable, reliable and above all, a delightful human being with an infectious smile.
I will miss my friend Rufus.

Rufus and I attended Tomball High School together. I had grown up overseas and parachuted into Tomball and we used to have interesting discussions about what what it was like for him growing up in a small town in the south. There were hardships, as you can imagine, but it amazed me how there was no anger in him. His heart was good and he just wanted folks to be respectful and get along. Truly a gentle man. He was to come to my daughter's wedding in October. I'm glad we reconnected after so...

I just read about his passing. We knew each other at Southwestern as 'Independents'. I am so sorry to hear about the loss of such a fun, goofy fellow student. We were all single, but wished we weren't!

I was so distraught by this news that I forgot to sign my previous post. I was happy and proud to be his friend. May he rest in peace.

I only just now heard about this and I can't even begin to comprehend that Rufus is no longer here. He was such a dear friend to me and we held a mutual love and respect for one another that wasn't diminished by miles. So many wonderful memories with making music and our love of the French horn. May St. Gabriel greet you at the pearly gates with trumpets blaring. Keep a place for me in the brass quintet with the angels.

Rufus Chaney is so missed already. His laugh, his mischieveousness, his smile. He was a sweetheart. I've known Rufus for almost 30 years and it was my privilege to know him. He had a kind heart and was so supportive. Rufus will be playing horn with the angels!! Because of his kindness and support, he helped many become better musicians, including myself. It's so difficult to imagine not having him here. But he'll be looking out for us all. Rest in peace, my dear friend.
