Not sure what to say?

Dear Benson family,

I grew up in Long Leaf Hills, and have many good memories of playing football, basketball and trials (a game played on bikes) with Russ. He was always smiling and laughing, even while being tackled and slammed to the ground! He was a kind, good person, and I'm very sorry to hear of his passing. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Russ and I were good friends and played music together. He's was a wonderful person to be around and a smart, talented musician. What a beautiful soul!

My thoughts and prayers go out to all the Benson family and friends for the loss of Russ. As I look back at the years past I realize how lucky I was to be welcomed into the Benson home nearly every day through junior high and high school. Being best friends with his older brothers I remember Russ sharing some of those great Benson attributes; smart, funny, doing his own thing, never following the crowd, and a great talent for and love of music. I worked with Russ in Hawaii. He was a real genius and had so much energy. I do not thing you could ever be bored for a minute hanging out with him. Russ loved what he did - and he did a lot. Russ was one terrific guy. I hope that all his family and friends have a lot of great memories of him to treasure. My memories of him in his long Dr. Who scarf never fail to bring a smile to my face. Russ was talented and kind. I shall miss him but not forget him.

Bill and I were sorry to hear of Russ's death. He was an interesting person and very nice. We'll all miss him. Julie Burns
