Not sure what to say?

I am now at approximately 60 years after the fact, that Russ Nixon was the first major league player, that impressed me ever, and it was positive, due to the courage he showed that day, and I still remember that summer day at Fenway Park, just as if it were yesterday. I may have been only 5 years old at the time. It was a trip to my first major league baseball game on that day. We came down from the rural Dover, NH, countryside. We got on a school bus with a number of kids from my scout troop...

I was a pitcher in the Baltimore Oriole organization and played against teams managed by Russ. He was an excellent
baseball man. Condolences to the Nixon family.

I'm sorry for your lost. I'm just know finding out that Russ passed away and it makes me so sad to know that he is not longer with you all. Russ was my coach when he managed the Lexington Legends. His knowledge of the game, his passion for others and his LOVE for the game; allow me and others to enjoy playing baseball. He was a great mentor and I wish that managers can look at his legacy and learn from it.

Keep celebrating his life!

Receiving this reminder today brought back special memories of the Big Red Machine in 1976 & 1977. Russ was always a gentleman with an infectious smile. I know Bob highly respected Russ. I feel Bob would want me to respond today on his behalf. Bob went to Jesus 1/9/2018 so I completely understand the importance of remembering our loved ones through sharing memories and the baseball life certainly is packed full of them. Gods Blessings to Glenda and family. IN HIS LOVE, Karen (Bob) Bailey

Kim Fox,cousin

I am Kim Fox, the daughter of Earl J. Fox who grew up in Cleves Ohio. My Dad (1916-2003) always spoke of Russ as our cousin. I'm saddened to hear of his loss and that I never made the effort to look him up to connect with him as a relative. Carl Erskine, my neighbor in Anderson, IN, knew of Russ. If any family member would like to contact me, I can be reached via email. Once again, I am so sorry for your/our loss. Dad spoke highly of Russ.

Kimberly (Kim) Fox, daughter of Earl Fox from Cleve's.

I remember Russ well, and I was saddened to read about his passing. He was a great gentleman and a terrific ballplayer. I was just a kid when he joined the Red Sox, but I remember he tossed me a ball before a spring training game in Arizona, and I was a Russ Nixon fan from then on! Rest in peace, Russ.
